Repair First, Replace When It Makes Sense
Not every problem means you need a new computer.
Many older Macs can continue to provide years of useful service with the right repair, upgrade or cleanup. In other cases, putting more money into an aging machine simply doesn’t make sense.
We’ll explain what we find, what your realistic options are, and whether repairing the Mac is worthwhile before you start spending money.
Sometimes the answer is a repair. Sometimes it’s an SSD upgrade. Sometimes it’s cleaning up software or fixing a configuration problem.
And occasionally the correct technical diagnosis is, “It has served you well. Let it go.”
Hardware Upgrades
Depending on the model and age of your Mac, upgrades may still be possible.
Older Macs in particular can sometimes benefit significantly from:

- General internal cleaning and maintenance
Modern Macs are increasingly integrated and less upgradeable than older models, so we’ll check what is actually possible with your specific machine before recommending anything.

A Mac that feels slow or unreliable doesn’t necessarily have a hardware problem.

Your files are usually more important than the computer they’re sitting on.

- Checking existing backups
- Moving data from an old Mac to a new one

- Recovering accessible data from failing systems where possible
We strongly recommend having a current backup before any major repair or upgrade. Drives are replaceable. Photos, documents and twenty years of accumulated digital clutter are considerably less so.
